Independent non-profit organization “Pskov Archaeological Center” was established in 2006. It was composed of the archaeological department staff of the Pskov Museum-Preserve. The main tasks for the organization are to carry out archaeological excavations in Pskov and archaeological research in Pskov region, scientific processing of the received materials, scientific and educational work.
At the beginning of spring traditional information seminars for guides and local historians “New Facts about Ancient Pskov (according to the archeology data of early XXI century)” take place. Our staff talks about the new discoveries of the latest archaeological season. These lectures are always a success and of great interest to the audience.
The staff always assists in organizing and conducting the scientific seminar “Archaeology and History of Pskov and Pskov region” named after the academician Valentin Sedov. Scientists from Russia, Baltic countries, Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Germany attend the seminar. In their turn Pskov archaeologists participate in various conferences and seminars in St. Petersburg, Novgorod, Moscow and other Russian cities and abroad.
At present the following people are working at the Center: O. Volochkova, the director, honored worker of culture of the Russian Federation, O. Kuranova, financial manager, B. Kharlashov, PhD, archaeologist, S. Salmin , archaeologist, restorer ; archaeologists S. Stepanov, T. Ershova , A. Yakovlev and researchers T. Priburova, T. Shchukina.
